Integrated Programmes

Influenced by the context of international education, through the integrated curriculum taught by local and expatriate teachers, the inquiry-based teaching and learning method, and various cultural activities, the Integrated Department has created a diversified and tolerant learning community that meets diverse needs of students, help them discover themselves, plan their lives, and adapt to the future.

 

The Integrated Department is comprised of four divisions, namely the Primary Years Division, the Middle Years Division, the IB Diploma Programme, and the Noble Academy programme.  Its high school division received official authorization by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) in April 2010, thus became an IB World School.  It also went through the inspection by the City Board of Education in 2014, and was authorized to offer international courses among other 21 pilot Chinese schools in Shanghai.

 

The Department has a professional, vibrant, innovative, and internationally minded faculty team where most of its members with postgraduate degrees, profound IB experience, and overseas study experience, and having interdisciplinary teaching skills.  Many teachers also have the IB examiner qualifications.

 

Primary Years Division

 

Our Primary Years curriculum is based on the Shanghai Primary and Secondary School Curriculum Program and each subject's curriculum criterion.  Simultaneously, all subject areas have set up their curriculum in line with the IBO’s primary curriculum framework.  This curriculum respects and develops each child’s natural passion for learning and developing themselves.  Exploration and inquiry-based learning is centered on the transdisciplinary themes of: who we are, where we are in place and time, how to express ourselves, how the world works, how we organize ourselves, and sharing the planet.  Our curriculum pays particular attention to the relationship between traditional study and the real world, as we endeavor to cultivate core-learning skills and stress the need for a positive attitude and importance of taking responsibility for our actions.

 

Middle Years Division

 

Our Middle Years integrated curriculum is based on the Shanghai Primary and Secondary School Curriculum Program and meets each subject's curriculum requirements.  All subject areas have set up their curriculum in line with the IBO’s Middle Years Programme curriculum framework.  This student-centred, concept-driven curriculum closely connects local cultures with global contexts, meets different needs of study, and focuses on developing students’ inquisitiveness, creativity, and critical thinking skills.

 

IB Diploma Programme

 

Through a thorough and balanced set of disciplines, and the inquiry-based learning method, the DP curriculum is designed to help students develop their learning interests, improve their critical thinking and research skills, encourage in-depth inquiry, embrace challenges, improve psychological quality, form learning habits, and to lay a solid foundation for their future studies.

 

All graduates have been admitted to overseas universities and over 70% to world top 100 universities.  Each year, about 35% of our graduates receive offers from world top 50 universities.  Student Jiahui Cai got the full mark of 45 points in the DP global examinations, which has been achieved by very few students in the world.

Noble Academy (North American high school programme)

 

The Noble Academy programme is a tailor-made high school programme that is based on the secondary education requirements by the Ministry of Education of the United States and Canada, with special consideration to the Chinese students’ characteristics, and taught jointly by Chinese and expat teachers.  Through the carefully designed curriculum, students will be equipped with the awareness of different cultures and the necessary skills to continue their senior year studies overseas.  The school has a wealth of resources to help and provide support to students with their applications.
